Shiok and healthy in one box from Maiz: grilled mushrooms, colourful peppers and glazed eggplant give me my veggie quota with zero sacrifice on flavour.
Prawns and mozzarella bring the protein to keep me full till dinner, while tangy pickled radish wakes up every bite.
A sprinkle of sesame and crispy shallots seals the deal. Proof that eating well in Singapore can be damn shiok! ![]()

Who says healthy eating has to be expensive or complicated? ![]()
Knowing that I’ve been exploring more in the kitchen, my friend shared one of his weekend cooking ideas — something easy, delicious and affordable.
And voilà… Bottomless Chicken 2.0! ![]()
Into the rice cooker went:
1 whole chicken
350g round cabbage
1 packet of shimeji mushrooms
1 carrot and 1 radish, diced
1 onion
1 red apple, sliced
Sliced ginger- 4 red dates
The secret? Absolutely NO added seasoning!
Just let the rice cooker work its magic for 1–2 hours. The apple, vegetables and red dates bring out a naturally sweet, light broth, while the chicken adds savoury goodness.
Total cost: S$8.50 for 6 servings — just S$1.42 per serving!
A wholesome, comforting meal that’s easy on the wallet, with protein from the chicken and plenty of vegetables.
Sometimes, the simplest cooking ideas turn out to be the most satisfying. ![]()
Would you try cooking chicken with an apple instead of seasoning? ![]()
